MPSEA Response to the Mayor's Operating Budget

Published:

October 6, 2020

As you may be aware, the Mayor released the Executive Operating Budget today.  Included within that budget are several items of specific concern to MPSEA and our Coalition partners.  Specifically, the Executive Operating Budget includes:

  • 2 – 4 furlough days per General Municipal Employee (including MPSEA and our Coalition members);

  • Layoffs in Parking Utility

MPSEA, along with our Coalition partners, will be at the Committee on Employee Relations this coming Thursday (10/8/2020) to discuss long-term wage equity.  At the same time, MPSEA will work with all of our Coalition Partners to advocate on your behalf to eliminate the proposed furloughs and layoffs.  MPSEA is committed to protecting and enhancing the pay and benefits for all members of CG 17, 18, 43, and 44.

MPSEA Response to Racial Injustice

Published:

June 23, 2020

n response to the murder of George Floyd, the MPSEA Board provided a letter to the Mayor of Madison and the members of the Madison Common Council. It included recommendations for how to address racial injustice and inequity in our community, and affirmed MPSEA's commitment to addressing issues of equity in the workplace and the City at large.

MPSEA President Dan Rolfs: "The words and recommendations in this letter are an important first step.  However, words must lead to actions.  MPSEA will continue both the discussion that is taking place locally, and take additional concrete steps to help address the issue of equity in our community.  We recognize that this work is challenging.  However, as public servants, we are used to challenges.

Working in concert with elected officials, public and private organizations, and marshalling the determination and resources within our community, we believe that we can and will succeed."
